I've always been deeply fascinated by Greek mythology. I've found in it powerful metaphors for making sense of our contemporary world. But I also know that for many people, ancient texts can feel distant or inaccessible. So I decided to retell some of these myths as if they were unfolding today in a neighborhood in Medellín, using a more familiar language to make stories like Hephaestus' or Persephone's more engaging.
Memorability comes from contrast. That's why I layered sketch-like drawings over Baroque-inspired paintings. The paintings were created using one of the earliest versions of Midjourney.
This book is composed of different layers of language, with music being one of my favorites. Every location had its own soundtrack, which readers could discover by scanning a QR code that took them to curated Spotify playlists. This is what you'd hear on the neighborhood bus.
